Ascension in Design: The Church in Hardangervidda

The Church in Hardangervidda, designed by Aryan Ron and Arman Ron, is a testament to the visual and metaphorical identity of both interior and exterior design. The designers were inspired by the concept of ascension, which they embodied by elevating the steeple of the building on a high mountain plateau. The cross frame, made transparent and illuminant by large glass surrounds, is visible from all surrounding areas, making the church a beacon of faith.

The church was built using Thermowood, Dark Block Stone, and Galvanized Steel. The designers ensured that the building was accessible to all visitors, regardless of their mode of travel. The design process began in March 2017 in Norway, on one of the mountains of the Hardangervidda plateau. The designers were motivated by a desire to counter the modern world's congestion and the fading of religious roots. They aimed to create a space that would help the next generation reconcile with their self-utopian ideals.

The main challenge faced by the designers was finding a suitable location that maximized visibility and natural light while providing convenient access paths for visitors.
